2mm or 45mm cells? The 32mm cell size suits most standard windows and gives a neat, proportionate look. The 45mm cells are better for larger windows, blind stack is massively reduced as well. We will help you choose when we measure up.
Not ideal for wet rooms. Honeycell blinds work best in dry environments. For bathrooms with lots of steam, other options like fauxwood venetians or moisture-resistant rollers might suit better.

What's the actual difference between these and standard pleated blinds?
Honeycell Absolute blinds have deeper, more pronounced honeycomb cells (32mm or 45mm deep) compared to standard pleated blinds which are usually much shallower. This means better insulation, better light control, and a more substantial look. The main difference though is the TDBU (Top-Down Bottom-Up) operation – standard pleated blinds usually only open from the bottom, while these can open from the top, bottom, or both at once. You’re paying a bit more for the enhanced functionality and better thermal performance, but if those features matter to you, they’re absolutely worth it.
How much difference do they actually make to energy bills?
It’s hard to put an exact figure on it because every house is different, but the honeycomb structure can reduce heat loss through windows by 25-50% depending on your window type and the cell size you choose. If you’ve got single-glazed windows, you’ll notice a bigger difference than if you’ve got modern triple glazing. Most people report that rooms feel more comfortable—staying warmer in winter and cooler in summer—rather than seeing a massive drop in their energy bills overnight. Is the top-down, bottom-up operation complicated to use?

No, unfortunately the top-down bottom-up mechanism is built into the blind from the factory—it’s not something that can be added afterwards. If you’ve got standard pleated blinds and you want TDBU operation, you’d need to replace them with new blinds. That said, if you’ve got freehanging pleated blinds, the brackets might be reusable, so it’s worth asking us to have a look before you assume you need completely new everything.
Which cell size should I choose—32 mm or 45 mm?
If you want maximum insulation and you’ve got large windows where the chunkier look won’t seem out of place, go for 45 mm. If you want a neater, more subtle look, or you’ve got standard-sized windows, the 32 mm is probably better. In terms of performance, both are excellent—the 45mm is marginally better at insulation, but the difference isn’t night and day. We’d usually recommend bringing samples of both when we measure so you can hold them up to your window and see which one feels right. It’s as much about aesthetics as performance.
Are they suitable for very large windows or patio doors?
Yeah, they work really well on large windows. The honeycomb structure is actually more rigid than standard pleated blinds, so they’re less likely to sag or bow in the middle on wide spans. That said, there are maximum sizes depending on the specific system—usually around 2.5-3 meters wide and 3 meters high. For really massive patio doors, we might recommend splitting them into multiple blinds rather than trying to do one enormous blind. We’ll advise on the best approach when we come to measure.
How do they perform in conservatories?
