Find your window code. Every VELUX and skylight window has a code plate showing the size and model. It is usually on the frame when you open the window. We need this to make sure your blind fits perfectly.
Blackout or dimout? Blackout VELUX blinds block light almost completely, which is brilliant for bedrooms. Dimout options soften the light without total darkness. Standard fabrics filter light gently during the day.
Heat reflective options. If heat is your main problem, look at our solar reflective blinds. They have a special backing that bounces heat away before it enters your room. Perfect for loft conversions that cook in summer.
Pleated or roller? We offer both styles for skylight windows. Roller blinds are neat and simple. Pleated blinds have a softer look and excellent thermal properties. Both work brilliantly on roof windows.

How do I know which VELUX blind fits my window?
Every VELUX window has a metal plate on the top edge (visible when you open the window) with a code on it – something like GGL M04 or GPU SK06. The first three letters tell you the window type, the number/letter combination tells you the size. When you give us this code, we can tell you exactly which VELUX blinds will fit. If you can’t find the plate or the code’s worn off, we can measure your window and identify it that way. It’s important to get this right – VELUX blinds only fit specific window codes, so guessing can lead to expensive mistakes.
Can I fit VELUX blinds myself or do I need professional installation?
VELUX blinds are designed for DIY installation if you’re handy, but they need to be fitted carefully into specific brackets in specific positions. Get it wrong and they won’t operate smoothly or might not fit at all. We include free professional fitting as standard because it eliminates the risk of mistakes and ensures everything works perfectly. We’ve got the experience and tools to do it quickly and properly. If you’re determined to DIY, VELUX provides instructions, but honestly it’s worth having us fit them to avoid the hassle.
What's the difference between Blackout and Duo Blackout blinds?
Standard VELUX Blackout blinds are single-layer blackout fabric that blocks 95-100% of light – brilliant for bedrooms. Duo Blackout blinds combine a blackout layer with a pleated blind layer, giving you two blinds in one. You can use just the pleated blind for gentle light filtering during the day, just the blackout for sleeping, or both together for maximum darkness and insulation. Duo blinds cost more but they’re incredibly versatile – one blind does multiple jobs.
Are solar powered VELUX blinds worth the extra cost?
For roof windows that are hard to reach and where running power cables would be a nightmare, solar powered blinds are absolutely worth it. The small solar panel charges the battery (takes about a day in reasonable light), and the battery lasts months between charges. You control them by remote just like electric blinds, but without any wiring needed. They cost more than manual blinds but less than you’d spend getting an electrician to run power cables to a roof window. If your window gets decent daylight, solar is the way to go.
